Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is planning to offer Yves Bissouma more game-time after the international break as the midfielder continues to adapt to the playing style at Hotspur Way, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Bissouma was among the fresh faces to head to north London as Spurs parted with more than £150million during the summer transfer window.

What’s the latest news involving Bissouma?

Bissouma joined Tottenham in a deal which could rise to £35million, if performance-related add-ons are activated, from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion in June.

The 26-year-old admitted to being ‘very happy’ after completing the move, while he also claimed it was his ‘dream to play in the Champions League’.

However, Bissouma has failed to make an instant impact with his new employers and been restricted to just one start.

Ahead of the 6-2 thumping of Leicester City at the weekend, Conte revealed the central midfielder has struggled to get to grips with the ‘tactical aspect’ of Spurs’ game.

But Bissouma has been offered hope of getting more of a look-in in the weeks and months ahead as the Italian will reportedly be keen to offer him more minutes on the pitch after the international break.

What has Dean Jones said about Bissouma?

Jones understands that Bissouma has been shocked by the alterations he has been having to make to his game after joining Spurs.

While that has stopped him becoming a regular fixture in the starting line-up, the journalist is aware that Conte has set his sights on giving the 21-cap Mali international more opportunities to impress when domestic football returns.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Some players don’t adapt quickly to a new style of football and, for Bissouma, it has been a surprising change since he made this move.

“But he’s had this bedding in time and Conte is planning to use him more after the international break, so we will soon discover whether he has levelled up.”

Yes No

Who is ahead of Bissouma in the pecking order?

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur have formed a formidable partnership in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield and lined-up alongside each other 24 times since the latter joined from Juventus in January.

Hojbjerg has not missed a single minute of action since the season got underway last month, underlining his importance to Conte.

Bentancur, meanwhile, grabbed the first goal of his Spurs career during the mauling of Leicester last time out, so Bissouma is facing an uphill battle to work his way into his boss’ preferred starting XI.
