Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a shock move for Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Chelsea.

The Portugal international has reportedly fallen out with Atletico manager Diego Simeone. As a result, the Spanish club are looking to sell him this summer.

For example, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Felix. But, no club has so far agreed to pay the fee required to sign him permanently.

Overall, the 23-year-old made 16 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring four goals in the process. Some Blues fans expected Mauricio Pochettino to sanction a permanent move for Felix. But, the manager opted against doing so.

Now, he could be set for a swift return to the Premier League.

Tottenham have endured a very disappointing season. They finished the campaign in eighth place in the table – missing out on European football for the first time since the 2008/09 campaign.

Now, it’s up to Ange Postecoglou to turn their fortunes around. The new Spurs manager is tipped to make several signings this summer, as he looks to rebuild his squad.

But, Postecoglou may end up losing the club’s record goal scorer Harry Kane this summer. So, it won’t be an easy task to take Tottenham back towards the top of the table.

However, Spurs are already looking at bringing in some exciting additions and could make a shock move for Felix.

This is according to reports from Spain, which claim that Felix is on Daniel Levy’s transfer shortlist.

As things stand, he has no place in Simeone’s plans. To that end, Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is looking for a way out for him, prioritising staying in the Premier League.

As mentioned, he has already been offered to Chelsea, Villa and Newcastle, so far to no avail.

Indeed, the sticking point regarding Felix is his hefty price tag. Despite Atletico’s willingness to sell, they still want a fee of around £88m for his services.

So, Tottenham would have to put their money where their mouth is to sign Felix this summer. But, if Kane is sold, they will have plenty of funds to spend.

Daniel Levy has slapped a £100m price tag on the England international. Real Madrid are currently the favourites to sign him, but Manchester United are still firmly in the race, too.

It would be a huge call for Tottenham to spend the majority of their Kane money on Felix. So, it will be interesting to see how this story develops in the next few weeks.
