Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a potential summer move for Burnley winger Maxwell Cornet, as per a report from The Mirror.

The versatile Burnley option has played in several different roles for the Clarets this season, operating on the left wing, both wing-back positions and as a centre-forward.

The report claims that the Premier League giants are very much keen on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic, as it remains to be seen if Spurs would look to complete a move for both.

Antonie Conte’s side are set to benefit from a huge cash injection from owners ENIC, with £150 million set to be made available to help Tottenham mount a serious title challenge.

The 25-year-old signed a five-year deal at Turf Moor last summer, meaning that Burnley are likely to demand a sizeable transfer fee.

The verdict

Cornet has proven that he possesses Premier League ability this season, being a bright spark in what has been a dim season for the Lancashire outfit.

Cornet’s versatility would be a big plus for Conte, with the 25-year-old thriving in all the different positions he has been tasked with playing in this season.

A consistent creator of chances, and an exciting ball carrier, Cornet could quite easily be a cheat code in the Championship, with a move back to the top flight looking a likely option at this stage.

Given the significant amount of cash being pumped into the Premier League outfit, the fact that Burnley could demand a high fee is unlikely to prevent them from making a move if they do hold a strong enough interest in Cornet.
