According to Gianluigi Longari, Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in the services of Benjamin Sesko. The Premier League giants are mulling over a move for the RB Salzburg forward, though they are yet to make an official approach for the youngster. Sesko’s current contract expires in 2026, but it won’t be surprising to see him depart Salzburg in the near future.

What Is Sesko All About?

Formerly of FC Liefering, Benjamin Sesko has emerged as one of the best young strikers in the Austrian top-flight lately. He initially made his breakthrough during a loan spell at Liefering last season, as he netted 21 goals in 30 matches.

The youngster returned to Salzburg in the summer, hoping to make his breakthrough in the top-flight, especially after the summer exit of Patson Daka. Six months into the new season, Sesko hasn’t disappointed either, becoming a key figure in the club’s attacking outlet, alongside the likes of Noah Okafor and Karim Adeyemi.

Standing at 1.94m, Sesko’s towering figure has even drawn comparisons to former Salzburg starlet Erling Haaland. So it goes without saying that the young Slovenian is a very handy player to have insider the box, thanks to his aerial and physical prowess.

There is room for improvement in terms of goalscoring but at the age of just 18, Sesko has the undisputed potential to come as one of the top strikers across Europe.

A Perfect Replacement For Harry Kane?

Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new striker, which is hardly a surprise as they prepare for a future without Harry Kane. The English international is expected to leave the club next summer, with Manchester City still keen on his services.

However, Benjamin Sesko could prove to be a risky option for Spurs for multiple reasons. While the 18-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most talented strikers in the Austrian top-flight, his lack of experience at the highest level of football is rather concerning, especially given the gulf of difference in quality between the Austrian Bundesliga and the English Premier League.

That said, Sesko could be an ideal backup option for a more proven attacker like Kane. He is young and has the time to slowly evolve himself into a top-class striker. His imposing presence already makes him a tailor-made fit for the physically demanding nature of English football, and at the age of just 18, he could be a smart long-term investment.
