The 18-year-old has signed a deal through to 2030, but will remain at K League side Gangwon for the rest of their season and join up with Spurs in January.

It continues the youthful focus to Tottenham’s transfer business, after the arrivals of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.

Yang scored his first goal for Gangwon in March, becoming the youngest player to get on the scoresheet in the K League in more than ten years, and he has since scored seven more, including three in his last two appearances.

Tottenham are currently in South Korea as they continue their preparations for the new season.

After beating Vissel Kobe in Tokyo, Spurs have travelled to Seoul as they prepare for fixtures against a K-League XI and Bayern Munich.

Ange Postecoglou’s side will then return to the UK for a second fixture against Bayern, in north London on August 10.

Speaking after Spurs’ win over Vissel Kobe, Postecoglou was asked about the possibility of the club bringing in a new striker before the end of the transfer window.

“We had a strategy of the kind of players and what we need to bring in,” the Australian said.

“We played Deki [Kulusevski] through the middle like we did last year, but obviously with Richy [Richarlison] out and Timo [Werner] was unwell today, we were a little bit short in that front third.

“We've got a clear plan of what we need to do in this transfer period and that's what we're working towards and we know the areas we need to strengthen and the clear focus is on that.”
