Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Argentine defender Cristian Romero from Atalanta.
It is believed the 23-year-old has become the club’s second most expensive transfer in their history, signing for a reported fee of €50m.
Only Tanguy Ndombele cost more (€53m) when he arrived from Lyon in 2019 and Romero has signed a five-year deal in north London.
The centre-back made 31 appearances last season as Atalanta finished in the top four of Serie A to qualify for the Champions League.
Romero is Tottenham’s third arrival of the transfer window, after the signings of midfielder Bryan Gil and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
