Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte doesn’t hide the fact that coming back to San Siro with the Premier League side to face AC Milan is an emotional experience for him given his history with Inter.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of tomorrow evening’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg between the two sides, as reported by FCInterNews, the Spurs coach reflected on what being back at his former team’s stadium means to him.

Before joining Tottenham in the fall of 2021, Conte had been Inter coach for two seasons, having already enjoyed success coaching the likes of Juventus, Chelsea, and the Italian national team among others.

During just those two seasons as Nerazzurri boss, Conte guided the team to a Europa League final in his first campaign before bringing the club its first Serie A title in his second in charge.

The fact that the coach left not long after the high point of the Scudetto was an indication that things were not always smooth sailing between he and the Nerazzurri, but he makes no secret of the fact that his time at the club made a big impression on him.

“Returning to San Siro makes me emotional,” the coach said.

“I spent two intense, and incredible years here in which I managed to achieve some great things with Inter,” he continued.

“Coming back gives me strong feelings,” Conte went on. “It’s extraordinary to be here, for me as well as my players.”
