Tottenham are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilón.
Reguilón impressed on loan at Sevilla last season, but was later made available by Madrid in an attempt to raise funds with COVID-19 impacting their revenue streams.
According to The Athletic, Spurs are leading the race for the 23-year-old despite Manchester United also holding talks.
It’s understood that Reguilón was open to joining United, but negotiations have stalled with Madrid over their insistence for including a buy-back clause.
This is common practice for the LaLiga winners who have recalled Dani Carvajal, Álvaro Morata and Mariano Díaz in recent years.
The Athletic claim that while a deal is not done – significant progress has been made and is now highly possible.
