Tottenham boss Pochettino admits he missed out on Keita Baldé signing

Baldé, who was introduced as the Italians trailed 1-0 at home to the Premier League side before turning it around, was a target for the Tottenham coach during his time at Lazio.

However, Pochettino, who knew all about the Senegalese during his youth career with Barcelona whilst still playing himself with Espanyol, revealed Baldé opted to join French side Monaco before moving to the San Siro.

“Yes, it’s true,” he told reporters. “I’ve been following him since he grew up in Barcelona while I was at Espanyol.

“He is a player with an interesting profile for us, I wanted him but then he chose Monaco. But he remains an excellent striker.”

The 23-year-old frontman joined the Serie A giants on loan for a fee of €6 million and Inter hold a €30 million option to buy at the end of the season.
