According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur have picked out three potential permanents successors to Antonio Conte and Daniel Levy is ‘keen to take his time’.

Spurs have been without a permanent head coach since Conte left the club in March. Ryan Mason ended the 2022/23 campaign as the club’s interim boss but he is expected to be replaced before next season.

Earlier this month, Feyenoord boss Arne Slot emerged as the favourite to join Spurs but he has since committed his future to the Eredivisie champions.

Slot said: “I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other club’s interest in me. Although I am thankful my wish is to stay at Feynoord and continue working on what we created last year.

“There is not – and there has not been – transfer conversation and yesterday’s meeting was exclusively for an extension. All talks with the club have always been only in that sense. Looking forward to next season with Feyenoord.”

Football Insider are now reporting that ‘Enrique, Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou’ all feature on Tottenham’s ‘new three-man shortlist and they are all ‘in the frame for the managerial vacancy’.

‘Levy is keen to take his time over an appointment’ as he has ‘recognised the need to install the right man’. The report adds.

‘Former Barcelona boss Enrique, 53, remains on the radar after his exit as Spain manager last year (2022). ‘Amorim, 38, won Liga Portugal with Sporting CP in the 2020-21 campaign and is considered an attractive prospect by Spurs. ‘And Postecoglou, 57, is an option for the Lilywhites as he closes in on a record-breaking domestic treble with Celtic this term.’

Enrique has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Luciano Spalletti at Napoli. But their president – Aurelio de Laurentiis – thinks the Spaniard “wants to go to the Premier League”.

“He wants to go to the Premier League, we compete with leagues that are more attractive than ours,” De Laurentiis told RAI (via Sport Witness).

“I can tell him that there is no gulf there and you don’t eat as well as we do, but more than this…

“We are evaluating coaches for the 4-3-3, I have evaluated a dozen profiles, I will choose the best to continue the cycle.”

This view is backed up by journalist Giovanni Scotto (as reported by Sport Witness). He thinks Enrique ‘would prefer’ a move to the Premier League ‘if he could get it’.

Napoli are ‘waiting for an answer’ from Enrique but ‘there is Tottenham’ as an alternative option for him.

It is also noted that Enrique’s ‘very high economic demands’ will be a ‘problem’ for Napoli but Tottenham ‘could easily’ afford it.
