The Premier League has confirmed that fixture will be rescheduled following a request from the Gunners to call off the game.

Mikel Arteta’s side has been depleted due to COVID cases within the squad as well as a number of injuries and players on international duty which has led to the club not being able to field a team for the fixture.

In an official statement, Arsenal said: “The Premier League has made the decision to postpone the match, due to many players across our squad currently being unavailable as a result of COVID-19, existing and recent injuries, in addition to players away with their countries at AFCON.”

Arteta spoke about the possibility of the game being called off after the EFL Cup semi-final draw against Liverpool on Thursday.

It is reported that the Spaniard had been left with just 12 available outfield players after the game at Anfield where he saw Bukayo Saka and Cedric Soares pick up knocks.

Premier League rules state that teams must fulfil fixtures if they have 14 players available to play.
