Tottenham Hotspur have announced the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new permanent manager.

He joins the Premier League club after two successful seasons in Scotland with Celtic. He won a domestic double last season and has secured a treble this term.

Tottenham sacked Antonio Conte after an ill-advised rant berating his players and the club’s management following their 3-3 draw with Southampton.

Spurs retained Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini and he did not improve their results. He was replaced by Ryan Mason, but not much changed.

Chairman Daniel Levy said: (via Tottenham’s official website): “Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play.

“He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy – everything that is important to our club.

“We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”

Celtic tried to keep Postecoglou, but he was attracted to Tottenham’s proposal and decided to leave.

The Bhoys are already searching for a replacement. Former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch is on their shortlist.

The next step for Tottenham is finding a new sporting director. They need someone to plan and execute a vision for the club moving forward.

Their squad requires a significant overhaul. The top priority will be resolving Harry Kane’s future at the club.

He has been strongly linked with Manchester United, but Tottenham would prefer not to sell him to another Premier League club.

Real Madrid are also interested in the England captain, but they could struggle to fund a move after agreeing to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
