Ahead of next week’s Europa League final against Manchester United, Spurs held an open training session on Monday with several first-team players put through their paces by the coaching staff.

Johnson, an unused substitute in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, was the subject of concern for some Tottenham fans on social media when footage emerged of him being wiped out by teammate Sergio Reguilon.

The Spaniard did appear slip as he got across to the Wales international, but in doing so, he completely took out Johnson who was left clutching his left foot.

The worry among Spurs supporters, especially with the Europa League Final just around the corner, was that Johnson took a while in getting back to his feet.

However, Postecoglou addressed the tackle in his press conference played down any injury fears by saying: “We’ve got enough injuries! I’ll put them in cotton wool for the next ten days.

“Seriously, with the way things have gone this year, any extra curricular activities are going to be at a minimum.

“I don’t know if you saw [in open] training today but we had Reggie [Sergio Reguilon] tackle Brennan [Johnson] and they are on the same team. That shows how we’re going!

“There are the quirks of things that happen. Thankfully nothing too serious.

“You’ve just got to hope and pray that the football gods have run out of challenges to throw to us this year.”

Dejan Kulusevski was absent from Monday’s training session after a being forced off inside the opening 20 minutes against Palace with a knee injury.

That said, Postecoglou has revealed the club are optimistic that the Swede will be fit for the Europa League final. This would be a massive boost considering Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison will play no part in Bilbao.
