Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison gives Brazil ‘what they want’ and the Hotspur Way favourite is ‘like a racehorse wearing blinkers’, according to South American football journalist Tim Vickery.

Tottenham latest news – Richarlison

Richarlison was included in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup and there is no doubt that he has made an impact at the top end of the pitch.

He got the tournament up-and-running in style, grabbing a brace during the 2-0 victory over Serbia and particularly caught the eye with an acrobatic second effort.

Richarlison was handed a match rating of 8.5 by WhoScored, a grading which was not bettered by any other players on the pitch.

The 25-year-old’s impact came just a month after the Evening Standard reported he left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches due to picking up an injury against former club Everton.

Richarlison, who is on a Spurs contract worth £90,000-per-week according to Spotrac, initially feared his dream of representing Brazil in Qatar was over.

What has Tim Vickery said about Richarlison?

Vickery believes Richarlison is the ideal frontman as Brazil bid for yet another World Cup success.

The journalist feels the Nova Venecia-born star has his sights firmly set on finding the back of the net while also being uncomplicated, which is what head coach Tite is looking for.

When asked how Richarlison has forced his way to the top of the pecking order for Brazil, Vickery told GIVEMESPORT: “Because he gives them what they want.

“He’s like a racehorse wearing blinkers. He doesn’t think about anything else apart from scoring goals.

“They don’t need a player in that position who can elaborate because they’ve got that. What they want is a penalty box operator – simple, uncomplicated and strong.”

Has Richarlison attracted interest thanks to his World Cup performances?

According to Spanish sources, Real Madrid are in the market for a new striker and Richarlison’s form in Qatar will have attracted their attention.

The report suggests the eight-time Champions League winners would be willing to fork out up to £86million for a long-term Karim Benzema replacement.

But Conte will be desperate to fend off any interest in Richarlison, who only made the move to north London in the summer for £60million, as per Sky Sports.
