What’s the latest news involving Johnstone?

According to the Telegraph, the Spurs manager wants to sign a keeper to provide competition and cover for Hugo Lloris, because Gollini, who’s made just 10 appearances, is likely to return to parent club Atalanta.

Sky Sportsimminent departure of number two Dean Henderson.

However, the Evening Standard believe that Spurs are now ‘increasingly confident’ of capturing Johnstone’s services, with the Red Devils now no longer in the race despite their need for a backup keeper.

Should Johnstone, who’s played 362 games in his club career, complete his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he’ll arrive on a free transfer, with his Baggies deal expiring next month, and Taylor doesn’t think that the deal is far off being completed.

What did Taylor say about Johnstone?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I know Sam Johnstone is pretty much looking set to sign for Spurs. Nothing is done yet, but he will come in to replace Gollini, who’s going back to Atalanta. He’s not made enough appearances to trigger the obligation to buy.”

Are Tottenham close to signing anyone else?

Spurs aren’t on the verge of adding any other players to their squad, but a recent report from Football.London would suggest that Conte has made signing an understudy to Harry Kane a priority.

The report states that the likes of Victor Osimhen, Alexander Isak, Darwin Nunez, Lautaro Martinez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are all on Spurs’ radar, as is Patrick Schick, who impressed for Czech Republic at last summer’s Euros and scored 24 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are hoping to sign Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski permanently, with the duo currently on loan from Atalanta and Juventus respectively.

Furthermore, the Telegraph believe that Conte has asked Fabio Paratici for six new players in the upcoming window, including another centre-back, a right wing-back and two central midfielders, as well as a backup goalkeeper and striker, so it has the makings of a busy summer in north London.
