Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele won’t be returning for Lyon for a second time, according to journalist Charlie Eccleshare.

Spurs’ record signing spent the second half of last season on loan at the Groupama Stadium following his lack of opportunities under Antonio Conte, but The Athletic reporter doesn’t envisage a repeat.

What’s the latest news involving Ndombele?

Despite being amongst the first batch of players to return to Hotspur Way for the beginning of pre-season last month, the £200,000 per-week star doesn’t have a future in north London.

According to The Athletic, Ndombele was left out of the travelling party to South Korea, along with Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso because Conte only wants to work with players who are part of his plans.

Ndombele made just a handful of starts following Conte’s arrival last November, although he didn’t feature again after he was booed off the pitch by the Tottenham fans against Morecambe in the FA Cup.

And while a summer exit is expected in some capacity, Eccleshare has all-but ruled out a return move to Lyon.

What did Eccleshare say about Ndombele?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Obviously he went to Lyon in the second half of last season, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen again, that’s my understanding.

“There are other clubs in France who are interested, Marseille for instance, but that’s one again where the buying or loaning club can wait.”

Which other clubs have been linked with Lyon?

With Ndombele doing little of note on the pitch across the last 18 months, clubs aren’t exactly queuing up for his signature.

His lucrative wages, which are currently the joint-most at Tottenham along with Harry Kane, also aren’t exactly helping his case to secure a move away from north London.

Regardless, reports in France claim has Turkish giants Galatasaray are interested in signing Ndombele, while Get French Football News are claiming that a switch to Villarreal could also be on the cards, even though the 25-year-old is hoping to play in the Champions League, something the La Liga outfit can’t offer.

Meanwhile, as Eccleshare revealed, along with Sky Sports, Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are another potential option for Ndombele.
