Tottenham Hotspur still have work to do in the second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt if they are to keep their Europa League ambitions alive.
Frankfurt, who won this competition as recently as 2021/22, needed just six minutes to get in front in north London, Hugo Ekitike showing exactly why he is wanted by several clubs this summer.
Pedro Porro found the equaliser for Spurs midway through the first half, but neither side could muster any more. It wasn't for the lack of trying from Ange Postecoglou's side, frustrated by Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua, who pulled off five saves overall.
With home advantage and the tie now reduced to a 90-minute play-off, Frankfurt arguably possess a slightly better chance of making it to the last four. But Spurs will consider themelves well in this tie.
