Everton will entertain Sheffield Wednesday at Goodison Park on Sunday night hoping to earn a victory and book a spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Toffees have won each of their past two matches by a 2-1 scoreline, which will give them a confidence boost ahead of this cup game this weekend.

Carlo Ancelotti will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few tweaks to his first-team for this upcoming contest at home. Cenk Tosun will spearhead the Merseyside club’s attack up top while James Rodriguez plays on his shoulders in the opposition half.

Defence

Robin Olsen will play in goal for the Toffees after failing to earn a clean sheet in the last round of the FA Cup. Ben Godfrey could partner up with Michael Keane at the centre of the Everton backline as they try to restrict the opposition from finding the back of the net this weekend.

Niels Nkounkou could get the nod to function at left-back while Seamus Coleman fills in on the other flank as the right-back. Ancelotti will give both of them the license to get forward and join in on the attack so that they can deliver some decent crosses for Cenk Tosun inside the opponent’s penalty box.

Yerry Mina is expected to get a rest on the bench as he offers cover for the centre-back positions.

Midfield

Andre Gomes will operate alongside Tom Davies as the holding midfielders as they focus on retaining possession well at the centre of the park. Anthony Gordon could get an opportunity to catch the eye on the left flank while Alex Iwobi hopes to use his pace to get in behind the Sheffield Wednesday defence on the right-wing.

James Rodriguez will be given the freedom to express himself from the number ten position. He will carry most of the creative burden for his team in the final third.

Attack

Cenk Tosun will lead the line for the Toffees up top. The Turkish centre-forward will be desperate to get his name on the scoresheet and get some confidence back in his game so that he can play a more prominent role for Ancelotti’s side in the second half of this campaign.
