Toronto FC will loan full back Auro to Brazilian Serie A side Santos FC for the remainder of the 2022 season, the club announced Monday.
The Brazilian side holds the option to purchase.
Auro has played an integral role in Toronto’s backline since arriving in 2018 from Brazilian Serie A side São Paulo, initially on loan. He has recorded 10 assists across 84 appearances in the last four Major League Soccer seasons.
The Brazilian player’s departure marks the latest from Toronto FC after a busy offseason. Justin Morrow kicked off the roster changes after announcing his retirement, followed by Richi Laryea’s transfer to the English Championship and the blockbuster move of Jozy Altidore to the New England Revolution.
The team is undergoing several alterations under the newest head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley.
The Canadian MLS side is set to kick off the 2022 campaign on February 26 when visiting FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Texas.
