Facing off at the Stadio Olimpico Grande di Torino, Jose Mourinho’s men dominated the Granata for all ninety minutes, giving themselves an important confidence boost ahead of Wednesday’s Conference League final versus Feyenoord.

Thanks to a pair of first half goals from Tammy Abraham and a late penalty from captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, tonight’s victory ensured Roma finish ahead of Fiorentina and Atalanta, who battle this weekend for the last remaining European place.

Abraham’s double against Toro increased his season tally 17 goals, making him the highest single season English goalscorer in Serie A, surpassing Inter’s Gerry Hitchens, who scored 16 league goals in 1961/62.

The victory means José Mourinho will end his first full season in Rome with a league record of 18 wins, 9 draws, and 11 defeats.

Though, a full judgement on Roma’s season won’t be made until after next week’s European final against the Dutch side in Tirana.

The Giallorossi’s last European final appearance occurred in 1991 and the Special One has set them up with an opportunity to capture their first European trophy.
