The time of year when a football club can add players to its playing roster from other teams is known as a transfer window. The 2022/23 Premier League’s summer 2022 transfer window is currently open and will close on September 1 at 23:00 BST. Before the transfer window closes, there will be a lot of definitely unique activity, but here are the top 5 transfer players to keep an eye on in the Premier League this year.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Erling Haaland has completed his transfer to Premier League champions Manchester City. Prior to the end of May, Manchester City announced that a deal had been struck with Bayern Munich to bring in the German striker, who had a release clause of €60 million ($64 million). Several clubs were interested in signing the Norwegian international, but Manchester City prevailed over Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in their pursuit. When Haaland signed for Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, he scored 41 goals in 41 appearances. He has 20 goals in 21 international games for Norway since making his debut in 2019. While playing for club and country last season, he netted a total of 36 goals in 34 games. He’s a fantastic talent who has established himself as one of Europe’s top attackers in recent years. And his experience starts well with 2 goals scored this weekend against West Ham.
Lisandro Martinez has signed a five-year deal with Manchester United for £56.7m. United paid €57.37 million (£48.3 million) for the Argentine, plus €10 million (£8.4 million) in add-ons. At Old Trafford, Martinez reunites with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag. The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract with a one-year extension. Martinez averaged more passes per 90 minutes than any Eredivisie player last season, and only two players made more forward passes. These figures show Martinez’s ability to play past opposing lines and pick out teammates from a distance. No Ajax player averaged more long passes per 90 minutes last season. His versatility and technical skills made him attractive to Premier League clubs.
Liverpool finalized the signing of the striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a club-record sum of £85 million. Both a work visa and international clearance are required for the deal to go through. To replace Divock Origi, Darwin will wear the No. 27 jersey at Anfield. He scored 34 goals for Benfica last season in all competitions, including both of his team’s goals against Liverpool in the Champions League quarterfinals in April. In the Portuguese league, Darwin Nunez was the top player this year. At the penalty spot and across from his opponent, Nez’s runs are well-timed and well-executed. Always on the lookout for second balls near the goal, he has good striker instincts when it comes to rebounding off both his own shots and those of teammates.
Kalidou Koulibaly, a centre-back for Napoli, has been acquired by Chelsea for a sum somewhere around £33 million. Senegal’s central defender, who has 62 caps, has agreed to a four-year deal worth approximately £160,000 per week (£8.2 million annually net plus bonuses) to join Stamford Bridge. Koulibaly, 31, joined the Serie A club from Belgian side Genk eight years ago and has made over 300 appearances. He has been chosen for the Serie A team of the year four times and was awarded the finest defender in Italy in 2019. Kalidou will offer a plethora of knowledge and skills to our team and the club as a whole.
Raheem Sterling has officially moved from Manchester City to Chelsea in a transaction that was valued at £47.5 million, and Chelsea’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, expressed that he was “very thrilled” to land the attacker. The player, who is 27 years old, has penned a deal at Stamford Bridge that is good for five years and includes a one-year extension option. Since making his debut for Liverpool in 2012 at the age of 17, Sterling has been involved in 165 goals in the Premier League. This puts him in fifth place among players who have played a role in scoring in the Premier League (109 goals and 56 assists).
These are a few of the players that were transferred this transfer window, which both fans and teammates should look out for.
