It's never too early to see which players are off the mark in Ligue 1 Uber Eats as we gear towards an exciting and prolific season in front of goal.

Kylian Mbappé took last season's top scorer crown with 28 league goals but the Paris Saint-Germain prodigy missed his side's 5-0 opening-day romp at Clermont through injury.

His absence opened the door for a host of other players to get a jump start on the 23-year-old in the race to top this season's standings.

Three and easy

Round 1 provided us with our first hat-trick hero of the season as Lens' Florian Sotoca netted a first career triple in Les Sang et Or's 3-2 win at home to Brest.  Goal Florian SOTOCA (65 - RCL) / RC LENS - STADE BRESTOIS 29 (3-2) / 22/23

Sotoca's exploits fired him to the top of the charts and it could have been even better for the 31-year-old if Brest 'keeper Marco Bizot hadn't denied the Lens forward from the penalty spot. Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi sits just behind Sotoca in second place following his stunning brace for the champions, including an early contender for goal of the season.

Goal Lionel Andres MESSI CUCCITTINI (86 - PSG) / CLERMONT FOOT 63 - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN (0-5) / 22/23

Messi is joined in second place by Jonathan David who carried on his good form from the end of last season as he netted twice in the first half during LOSC's 4-1 win over newly-promoted Auxerre.

Goal Jonathan Christian DAVID (39 - LOSC) / LOSC LILLE - AJ AUXERRE (4-1) / 22/23

Meanwhile, Montpellier captain Téji Savanier also scored twice to help his side overcome Troyes at the Stade de la Mosson.

Goal Téji SAVANIER (81 - MHSC) / MONTPELLIER HÉRAULT SC - ESTAC TROYES (3-2) / 22/23

Debutants shine

A notable mention should go to Alexandre Lacazette who scored from the penalty spot on his second Lyon debut, following his return to the Groupama Stadium this summer.

Goal Alexandre LACAZETTE (22 pen - OL) / OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS - AC AJACCIO (2-1) / 22/23

And to Toulouse debutant Thijs Dallinga who opened his Ligue 1 Uber Eats account with a deft touch to put the Ligue 1 new-boys ahead against Nice.

Goal Thijs-Jacco-Jan DALLINGA (20 - TFC) / TOULOUSE FC - OGC NICE (1-1) / 22/23

None of last season's top four got off the mark in Round 1 with runner-up Wissam Ben Yedder (25 goals last season) an unused substitute in Monaco's 2-1 win at Strasbourg whilst Moussa Dembélé - who notched 21 goals last term - missed Lyon's win over Ajaccio.

Martin Terrier was unable to continue last season's sensational form as Rennes slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Lorient. Terrier netted 21 times for Bruno Genesio's side last season and will be hoping to open his account for the campaign next weekend.

Round 2 could see the return of Mbappé when PSG entertain Montpellier at the Parc des Princes whilst two of last season's front-runners Ben Yedder and Terrier go head-to-head when Monaco host Rennes at the Stade Louis II.
