Kylian Mbappé came off the bench to score Paris Saint-Germain's winner against Nice and draw level with Neymar at the top of the scoring charts.

PSG needed a touch of magic to break down a stubborn Nice defence and Mbappé duly obliged when he fired low past Kasper Schmeichel seven-minutes from time at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappé is now level on eight goals for the season with team-mate Neymar who was unable to get his name on the scoresheet despite playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory.

Messi magic

Lionel Messi's sublime free-kick opened the scoring for the reigning champions and in doing so, the Argentine took his tally to five goals for the season. Messi is arguably showing his best form in a PSG shirt and his effort against Nice was his first goal from a direct free-kick since signing for the capital club in 2021.

LOSC striker Jonathan David thought he had earned his side a point when he notched his sixth goal of the campaign at Lorient, only to be denied by a late winner for Régis Le Bris' side. Jonathan Bamba played in the Canadian international who slotted home from close range to continue his excellent start to the season.

Reims' on-loan striker Folarin Balogun hit the target yet again to register his sixth goal of the season. The Arsenal loanee fired Reims in front in their entertaining 2-2 draw at Champagne rivals Troyes.

Lens forward Florian Sotoca smashed home a late penalty against Lyon to notch his sixth of the season. Sotoca took full advantage to hand Lens a 1-0 win against Lyon after Lyon defender Thiago Mendes was penalised for a handball in the penalty area.

Elye Wahi scored a superb consolation goal for Montpellier as they were handsomely beaten 4-2 at Toulouse. Wahi's classy touch and finish was his fifth strike of what has been an excellent season so far for the 19-year-old.

Hat-trick hero

Wissam Ben Yedder found his goal scoring touch with a superb hat-trick against Nantes to follow up his strike at Reims before the international break. Ben Yedder's first goal was a sublime chip over Nantes 'keeper Alban Lafont as the principality side made it five wins in a row.

His second was a well-worked counter attack finished off by a superb strike from the edge of the box, before he converted a penalty to claim the match ball. Last season's golden boot runner up Ben Yedder is now on four goals for the season.

Next up…

PSG head to Reims next weekend with Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and Lionel Messi all looking to add to their excellent returns so far. But the league leaders will have to be mindful of the threat of the prolific Folarin Balogun who sits just two-goals behind pacesetters Mbappé and Neymar.

Lorient's Terem Moffi had a quiet weekend in front of goal but will be hoping to fire his side to another victory at Brest while Jonathan David takes his excellent form into the derby du nord when LOSC host bitter rivals Lens and their deadly duo of Florian Sotoca and Loïs Openda.

On-fire Wissam Ben Yedder will be looking to find the net for the third-consecutive league game when Monaco travel to Elye Wahi's Montpellier.
