Top pundits agree on “really poor” Chelsea attacker

Chelsea fans are constantly calling for Thomas Tuchel to give Callum Hudson-Odoi more chances as a starting player, but the winger all too often performs like he did last night.

Alan Shearer and Ian Wright didn’t hold back in their criticism of the winger, saying that he was “really poor” and pointing out how afraid he was to take on his man, in quotes picked up by The Metro.

Wright went quite deep in his analysis of CHO and his cautious play when Chelsea needed a goal:

“Hudson-Odoi in that instance, he’s got a runner outside him, he’s onside, you play it to the runner, he plays it in and Lukaku might get his goal, all of a sudden Chelsea get themselves going.

“His decision there to stop, come back and pass it all the way back, I can’t believe what I’m seeing.”

It’s hard to disagree with that sentiment. Hudson-Odoi can look so good at times that it’s all the more frustrating when he doesn’t perform. His caution in moments like the one that Wright describes comes from low confidence, and that is affecting the whole squad, not just the young winger.

Those Chelsea fans who want him in the starting XI are going to have to get used to waiting again, we suspect.
