Djordje Petrovic is set to compete to be Chelsea number one next season after his loan spell at Strasbourg finishes according to reports.
The Blues signed the Serbia international from MLS side New England Revolution in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £14m.
The 25-year-old impressed between the sticks under Mauricio Pochettino last season, after coming in for the injured Robert Sanchez, and made 31 appearances in all competitions.
Despite impressing the decision was taken to loan Petrovic to Strasbourg, with Sanchez made number one by Enzo Maresca.
Whilst Petrovic has been impressing in Ligue 1, it’s been a different story back at Stamford Bridge where Sanchez has struggled.
The Spain international has made a number of high profile errors and was replaced by Filip Jorgensen after the defeat to Manchester City in January.

Jorgensen joined the club from Villarreal for £20.9m last summer and has had to bide his time, but he’s now Chelsea’s first choice keeper.
The 22-year-old made a howler which cost the Blues the game against Aston Villa at the end of February, and whilst there are positive signs many fans would like the club to sign a new keeper in the summer.
However, it’s been reported the Blues aren’t planning to sign a new shot stopper in the summer, despite being linked to Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel.
There is some good news though and Mail Sport have reported Petrovic will return to Chelsea after his loan with Strasbourg and compete to be the number one next season.

Liam Rosenior has described the Serbian as world class, and he will no doubt be a better player having spent a full season in Ligue 1.
With Petrovic returning and Jorgensen and Sanchez both still at the club it’s highly likely one of the three will need to leave in the summer, and it will be interesting to see what decision Chelsea make.
