Chelsea have Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez on their radar and could add another left back this summer given uncertainty over Renato Veiga’s future according to Ben Jacobs.

Marc Cucurella is currently Chelsea’s first choice left back, with the Spain international once again having a very good season.

The Blues signed Veiga last summer to predominantly be the back-up left back, although Chelsea also admired his versatility given he could play at both centre back and in midfield.

Veiga surprisingly decided he wanted to leave in January in order to play more minutes in his preferred centre back position, and left to join Juventus on loan.

After a good start the Portugal international picked up an injury as the Italian giants got dumped out of the Champions League by PSV Eindhoven.

Enzo Maresca currently doesn’t have a natural back-up to Cucurella and if anything were to happen to the Spaniard then Malo Gusto or Reece James would have to switch sides which isn’t ideal.

A left back isn’t thought to be a priority, but Jacobs has reported Chelsea have Kerkez on their radar and appreciate the player, who’ve they’ve previously been linked with.

“Chelsea also appreciate Kerkez and could add another left-back given Renato Veiga’s future is unclear,” he wrote in his Give Me Sport column.

“The 21-year-old can play in several positions and is currently on loan at Juventus with no option to buy, but he wants to play regular minutes – at centre-back – in the build up to the 2026 World Cup in order to enhance his chances of Portugal selection.

“Marc Cucurella is the current first-choice left-back at Chelsea. The fact both Malo Gusto and even Reece James can switch sides, plus Levi Colwill is an option, means the Blues have plenty of cover. Nonetheless, Kerkez is a player the west Londoners have been tracking since the summer of 2024.”

Jacobs add that Bournemouth would expect in excess of £40m for the Hungary international, who is also attracting strong interest from Liverpool.

The Cherries paid around £15.5m for the Hungarian in the summer of 2023 and to date he’s made 63 appearances for the south coast club.
