Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted Arsenal are not getting carried away after they broke into the top four on Sunday.
A 2-0 win over Southampton saw Unai Emery’s side climb above Manchester United and move three points clear of Chelsea.
Mkhitaryan, who scored Arsenal’s second goal, is not looking too far ahead.
“We are not looking at the table at the moment because we still have lots of games to play,” the midfielder told the Independent.
“The most important is to be focused and to be ready for every game.
“We are not going to think that we are in the top four and nothing will change.
“We just have to keep working and trying to our best to win three points in every game.”
Arsenal have finished outside of the top four in each of the last two seasons and are desperate to return to the Champions League.
With 11 games remaining, though, Mkhitaryan isn’t interested in the Gunners’ place in the table.
“It is not the main thing at the moment,” said the Armenian.
“The season is not done as we still have lots of games to play. The most important thing is to stay focused and keep winning games.”
The next such game? Arsenal host Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
