Top 10 best attended leagues in the world revealed | OneFootball

The English Premier League is widely regarded as the world’s most watched league but when it comes to bums on stadium seats, that isn’t actually the case.

ESPN have released a list of the world’s top 10 leagues in terms of average attendances and it makes for very interesting reading.

With its reputation for great atmospheres and cheap ticket prices, it’s no surprise to see the German Bundesliga topping the table with an average attendance of 44,460 in 2017.

The Premier League (38,620) is second on the list, followed by Spain’s La Liga (27,612) in third, but the most surprising entrant is Major League Soccer (22,106) in seventh, ahead of both France’s Ligue 1 (21,199) and the English Championship (20,425).

The sport’s popularity continues to grow and grow in the US and MLS’s average attendance was given a significant boost in 2017 by the emergence of new franchise Atlanta United, who average 48,200 supporters per game.
