Too good to refuse: Kompany wants to join FC Bayern! | OneFootball

Burnley coach Vincent Kompany is surprisingly on FC Bayern’s list of potential candidates for the post of new coach. The Belgian would be prepared to move to the German record champions should he receive a concrete offer.

As the pay-TV channel Sky revealed yesterday, initial talks have taken place between Kompany and FC Bayern.

TheBBC has now also confirmed that the two sides are in contact, although it is not known how far the talks have progressed and how close the parties are to a decision.

Bayern are seriously considering signing the 38-year-old. However, Kompany is on a shortlist with other candidates. In addition to Kompany, the Dane Thomas Frank from FC Brentford is apparently also a coaching candidate in Munich.

One of the factors in favour of the ex-Hamburger is the fact that he knows the Bundesliga very well from his time at HSV between 2006 and 2008 and can therefore speak German.

The fact that Kompany favours a 4-2-3-1 system at Burnley, with which FC Bayern has celebrated numerous successes in the past, also speaks in favour of the former Belgian international.

Kompany is waiting for an offer from Bayern

Even though Kompany only extended his contract with relegated Premier League side Burnley until 2028 last year, the BBC reports that he would be open to a move to the German record champions.

Kompany did not want to comment on the current rumours surrounding FC Bayern and emphasised that he „never talks about his future“.

Interestingly, even if Kompany was neither Bayern’s first nor second choice, the coaching job at one of the world’s most prestigious clubs would be too good an offer for him to turn down, the BBC has learnt.
