Barcelona are set to release the second season of their ongoing documentary series ‘FC Barcelona, A New Era’.
With brand-new uncut footage of Xavi and his colleagues going about their everyday tasks throughout the 2022/23 season, it is centered on the rebuilding of the first team at the beginning of the previous season and the journey to a successful domestic campaign.
While there are still two days left before the show premieres, MARCA have come out to reveal a segment involving Xavi’s preparation for the Clasico against Real Madrid.
Just hours prior to the match from the previous season, Xavi expressed his concerns, saying:
“I think it’s difficult, to be honest, because Madrid are always much more dangerous when they’re hurt. There is always tension, a lot of pressure. It’s a very psychological clash. You have to be calm.”
In addition to relaying his worries, the coach briefs the staff with tactical instructions to ensure Madrid does not get the better of his men.
“You have to distinguish, if it’s Nacho or Alaba, it’s a two-for-one, if it’s Kroos there’s time…. Who is the free man then? You have to play facing the ball, you have to tell the difference,” he stated.
Xavi then goes on to uplift spirits as he attempts to motivate the squad ahead of a high-stakes game. Well aware of the long-standing rivalry, Xavi is aware of the ins and outs of this duel and thus acknowledges the match as a final.
“Tomorrow is a final. Come on guys. Let’s do it. Come on, come on… Watch out for Benzema, who’ll drop off, Modric or Camavinga, who have legs and, if they win this duel, they’ll mess us up.”
Barcelona will soon be facing off against the Merengues on October 29th with the intention of emerging triumphant once more.
The focus of the second season returns to some of the pivotal games of the previous year, including shocking losses, injuries, emotional farewells, and all the pressure that comes with playing for Barcelona.
It also focuses on some of the up-and-coming young stars this year, the supporters returning to Spotify Camp Nou, and the renewed optimism for a squad that has rediscovered its storied identity.
The show comprises four chapters, with varying topics captured in each of them.
