Tomori insists Milan are ‘optimistic’ about last 16 hopes: “We still have a chance”
Fikayo Tomori has revealed that he and his AC Milan team-mates are still feeling optimistic about qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Milan have a tough ask to qualify knockout stages of the competition having lost their first two group games, with the first being 3-2 defeat at Anfield against Liverpool where the team led at half-time but emerged empty-handed, while they also led against Atletico Madrid at San Siro before a dodgy red card and an even more dodgy penalty gave the Spaniards three points.
The next two games against Porto will be absolutely crucial if the Rossoneri are to turn their form around and mount a surge into the top two spots in the group.
Tomori spoke to UEFA.com before the game at the Estadio do Dragao and analysed how crucial the fixture is, offering a positive reflection on Milan’s chances of making the last 16.
“There are still four games left in the group, so we still have a chance to qualify and we are still optimistic about it. We still have a long way to go and I think that we can be happy with our performance, but not with the results. We must try to combine these things together to get results and score points,” he said (via MilanNews).
