Speaking after the match to SUTV, Davies was understandably emotional about his winning goal and his return to the pitch. “It was an amazing feeling. Something I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” Davies said. “I’ve had plenty of time out to watch the games, and you just want to get back out there. Today I’ve been able to do that in a fashion where it’s like a dream come true. The support the fans, team, and staff have shown me has been incredible. It was just nice to give something back in such a big game.”

Reflecting on his recovery journey, Davies added: “The team has been amazing with me throughout my recovery, and it’s just great to be back. I feel really good. It’s been a long process, and I’ve missed preseason.” He added, “If I can come on and make impacts like this tonight, that’s the way forward for me.”

Davies also spoke about the team’s progress this season and the challenges they’ve faced. “The summer was tough for us all; starting on -2 and stuff like that, but we haven’t let that faze us. We’ve continued to focus on our football. The manager has been very clear about that, that it’s the group in the changing room that will affect the performances and where we stand in the league, and if you look at where we are in the table, that really shows. That comes from [the coaching staff] and it feeds through the squad, and the lads encourage each other and try not to focus on outside stuff.”

The victory lifted Sheffield United to the top of the Championship table. With momentum on their side, the Blades will now turn their attention to their next clash against West Brom, this coming Sunday, with Davies eager to continue contributing to the team’s success.
