América supporters are desperate for news of new reinforcements for their side after their embarrassing quarter-final exit at the hands of rivals Chivas, who came into the tie inexperienced and missing several of their players.
The board headed by Santiago Baños have opted for a lower-profile transfer policy, something that already has América fans upset.
Now, they may miss out on a potential signing that seemed as if the only thing missing was his signature, as it appears the Toluca board have backed down from selling midfielder/winger Alan Medina to América at the last minute.
According to Fox Sports journalist Carlos Rodrigo Hernández, “Toluca are not against Alan Medina going to América but they are not convinced that they can remain empty-handed and get rid of a player who can contribute to an already short roster.”
Medina came through the Toluca youth squad and has made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists.
At the international level, Medina participated with Mexico at the 2019 Toulon tournament, helping Mexico to a third-place finish.
