Today could mark the end of Theo Hernandez at Milan

Serie A side Milan are now out of the Champions League at the hands of Feyenoord, who held the Rossoneri to a 1-1 draw at the San Siro after a 1-0 win at home last week.

The game’s main talking point involved Theo Hernandez, who was sent off in the second half after his dive saw him pick up a second yellow card. He had picked up a first yellow card in the first half and his sending off was almost frivolous – like the player didn’t really care too much.

And frankly, that has been a pattern for the Frenchman this season. In a lot of games, there has been an impression that the left-back is past his prime at the Rossoneri and is witnessing a downward spiral. He has had games where he has been poor, bypassed and his attitude has come into question. His ability to lead the side has also been doubted.

All of it came to the fore today and it was the perfect encapsulation of a fall from grace for someone who was one of the best in the world in his position some months ago. He has lost that element of invincibility and realibility around himself and it shows in pretty much every game.

It will not be a surprise if the game today is seen as the one which marks the end of his time in Milan.
