Argentina struck twice in the second half to pick up three crucial points against Mexico on Saturday evening. Lionel Messi broke the deadlock in the 64th minute before Benfica midfielder, Enzo Fernández, scored a delightful curling shot past Guillermo Ochoa in the closing stages of the game.
“Today a dream came true: to score a goal in a World Cup with this shirt. I am very happy for the victory and for the group that demonstrated great things. One more final is missing,” said Fernandez speaking to TyC Sports.
The 21-year-old, River Plate academy graduate, came on as a second half substitute for Guido Rodríguez and he certainly staked his claim to start the final group game against Poland next Wednesday evening.
