Toby Alderweireld will look to put his latest Champions League blunder behind him quickly.
The 34-year-old has become a legend in his native Belgium after scoring a stoppage-time winner to win Antwerp their first league title in 66 years.
However, the captain couldn’t come in clutch when the pressure piled on Wednesday.
Antwerp found themselves up 2-0 against Shakhtar Donetsk, but an impressive second half from the visitors turned things 3-2.
Drama ensued at the death, and the hosts were handed a 97th-minute penalty. Alderweireld, however, stepped up and missed as the ball went wide of the post.
If he scored, Antwerp would have picked up their first point of the campaign. Football is cruel.
