Benoit Badiashile has revealed the game against Blackburn Rovers in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup was his favourite moment on Chelsea’s road to Wembley.
Coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat against Brentford in the Premier League the Blues needed a response against Blackburn and recorded a routine 2-0 victory.
However, for Badiashile this game marked his return to action after more than four months out with a hamstring injury.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website he said: “It had been a long time since I last played because of my hamstring, so I was just so happy to be back involved with the team. I was playing alongside Axel Disasi in the defence too which was really nice.”
“We have known each other a long time and played alongside each other many times at Monaco. That made it easier to come back into the team because of the relationship we have on the pitch.”
Badiashile managed to score on his return to the side and added: “That I got the goal was a great feeling because of the time I had out but also because it was important. Cup games are different, there is that extra tension because you know that one mistake can mean you’re out.”
“So to score was special, and then we got the second and we could be a little calmer. For me, it was just really nice to experience that game and be back playing football.”
The former Monaco man will unfortunately miss the Carabao Cup final this weekend through injury and has struggled to make a mark this campaign with injuries making it hard for him to find his rhythm and return to form.
The 22 year old has only managed 12 appearances across all competitions this season and has fallen down the pecking order at centre back.
