Paris Saint-Germain rallied from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Wednesday night at Parc des Princes, scoring three unanswered goals to take charge of the tie heading into the second leg.
Even though PSG’s class eventually showed, some might question whether Unai Emery’s decisions played a role in Aston Villa’s collapse. The visitors grabbed the lead, but Desire Doue equalized shortly before halftime, swinging the momentum.
From there, PSG took over. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put them in front early in the second half, and they stayed in control the rest of the way. Nuno Mendes added a late goal to give the French side a comfortable two-goal advantage.

Over in Spain, Barcelona made light work of Borussia Dortmund with a dominant 4-0 win at home, putting themselves in a strong position to reach the semifinals.
With PSG and Barcelona turning in statement performances, TNT Sports’ Owen Hargreaves was asked the big question: which team looks better ahead of a potential showdown in the final?
“Flip a coin. I actually think PSG have a bit of a better back four. But again, with both teams front three and as good as they are on the ball, literally, Lynsey, you could flip a coin. They’re both as good as each other right now.”
Both sides have commanding leads heading into the second leg; there’s a chance they could clash in the final after meeting last year in the quarterfinals, a tie in which PSG came from behind to eliminate Barcelona.
