If you can’t beat them, sign them. That seems to be the case when it comes to AC Milan’s management, who are apparently keen on Gabriele Zappa.
As TMW report, Zappa’s brace against Milan for Cagliari at the weekend has turned the spotlight on the Italian full-back. The defender’s contract is expiring next June after playing for four years in Sardinia, and that makes him a potential opportunity to seize.
Zappa has been regular starter throughout the season under Davide Nicola, with only one substitution in the 45th minute – because he had already been booked – in the defeat against Lecce.
Over the weekend, his agent Giuseppe Riso was at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari to watch the match and Milan asked for information on his situation and the conditions he might ask for.
The Rossoneri directors are showing interest due to the probable farewell of Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi, for whom there are no contractual agreements. Zappa, who can also play as a central defender, would take the place of one or both.

There is no concrete negotiation yet, but things could mature over the course of the months. On the other hand, there shouldn’t be any problems in finding a contractual agreement, but Cagliari would like to extend his deal and keep him in the squad.
A lot will depend on the interest (and offers) that Zappa receives over the next few months, while the 24-year-old admitted after scoring his two goals that Milan are his boyhood club.
