…the summer break: “It was a very enjoyable five weeks. When you go on holiday on the back of a triumph like that, it’s twice and three times as nice. The longer the holiday went on, the greater that tingling feeling and the excitement became. I arrived in Frankfurt yesterday with a big smile on my face and I’m looking forward to getting started again.”

…new additions: “Big compliments to Markus Krösche – he put things into action very quickly here. I think it’s great that a lot of players are already here – we’ve got eight new players. It’s about assembling a functioning group, getting to know each other first of all and settling in. The international players are only returning next week. Our job will then be to create one big unit.”

…the transfer strategy: “It’s about having players on the pitch who can play to their full potential in our team, who are able to use their strengths and who we can integrate. We see qualities in our new players who we believe will be good for Eintracht Frankfurt’s development. If we get better, we’ll win more games and have a better season in the Bundesliga than last term.”

…the season’s objectives: “I want us to concede fewer goals, keep more clean sheets, score more goals and get better at set plays. That’s what I’m demanding and that’s how we’re going into training this week. Those were the thoughts I had during my holiday. That’s my approach and if we put those things into practice, we’ll achieve our objectives.”

…Mario Götze: “I’m happy to be able to work with him. It’s important for him to get to know our group and our style of play first. We won’t gear our style of play towards Mario Götze or any other player, but we will integrate their strengths. Mario’s someone who brings a lot of experience. That’s something we were looking at for our attack. I’m pleased that we’ve found someone in Mario who’s enthusiastic about our project.”

…personnel: “All the players are here. Aurélio Buta remains a long-term injury absentee – he’s had a knee operation. The prognosis is that he won’t be able to play before September. Other than that, the international players will return on Monday, while Daichi Kamada will be back on 5 July, and Filip Kostic and Kevin Trapp on 7 July.”
