Timo Werner has officially signed a new four-year deal with RB Leipzig.
Werner – a €10m signing from Stuttgart in 2016 – had one year left on his current deal, and was expected to join Bayern Munich next summer.
However, Leipzig have stunned the transfer market by managing to secure his long-term future.
“I’m glad that I have finally extended my contract with RB Leipzig,” he told the club’s official website.
“Of course, this process has been going on for a long time, but I wanted to be completely sure that I could take my next steps with this club.
“Now I can fully concentrate on playing with our team, and make this season as successful as possible.”
Werner has started the opening two Bundesliga games under Julian Nagelsmann this season.
