Speaking at a pre-match press conference, RB Leipzig and Germany striker Timo Werner discusses how he’s adapted his playing style under Julian Nagelsmann as well as his Golden Boot rival Robert Lewandowski.

“You can’t score every games unless your name is Robert Lewandowski,” said Werner. “When I score two in Berlin and he scores two against Borussia Dortmund, I ask myself when will he stop. He’s currently in a category that belongs to [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo.”

The Germany international has adapted his playing style under new RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann, which has aided his development.

“Julian Nagelsmann said that I won’t be playing as an out and out striker but more of a false nine,” added Werner. “It has encouraged me to improve and develop myself, even when we come up against opposition that sit deep. He has already helped me to make better use of space.”
