Bild reports that Rouven Schröder has informed Timo Werner that he can leave the club on loan in the winter transfer window.

Werner was called into the office of the Leipzig sporting director where he was ‘clearly and understandably’ told that he can leave the club on loan in the winter.

Links to Manchester United are not true and a move to a big club for Werner would make little sense as he must aim lower so he can regain his confidence and hopefully regain his place in Germany’s squad ahead of Euro 2024. If Werner is to move away from Leipzig, then the club will have to likely pay part of his wages due to him being one of their top earners.

For example, a move to a mid-table Bundesliga club could be good for Werner’s confidence, whilst he can also provide an alternative option in attack due to his pace. Another option is a club like Dortmund whose attackers have failed to impress this season whilst Werner would also offer something different and he also fits Edin Terzic’s ideal player, a German with Bundesliga experience.
