Timo Becker joins Holstein Kiel | OneFootball

A Schalke youth product is leaving the club. Timo Becker will join Holstein Kiel on a permanent basis ahead of the new season. The 25-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the second division side. Further details on the transfer will not be disclosed.

“The move to Kiel is a good opportunity to get as much match practice as possible. This is something that we couldn’t guarantee him in the Bundesliga. We’re very grateful to Timo for his contribution to Schalke and wish him only the best for the future,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.

Becker’s departure signals the end of a second spell with the Royal Blues. The defender started his career at the club between 2007-2013 before moving on to spend six years with Rot-Weiss Essen. After returning to Schalke’s U23 squad and delivering impressive performances, Becker earned himself a professional contract before heading out on loan to Hansa Rostock for the second half of last season, where he made 14 appearances.
