Liverpool fans have been unable to contain their raw excitement over the news that Virgil van Dijk is set to make his long-awaited playing comeback this Thursday in a friendly against German club Hertha Berlin.
The Dutchman has been missing since October with an ACL injury after a nasty clash with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby.
Since then, he’s had to undergo surgery and a lot of rehab work to get back to this point and now the final stage remains, building match fitness ahead of a Premier League season.
That starts this Thursday, then, with James Pearce revealing that he’ll get a handful of minutes against Hertha Berlin in a friendly.
