Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger reacted to the 6-3 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday.

Manchester United were well beaten in the Manchester derby.

To concede six goals against Manchester City (again) is an embarrassment, but United’s late revival in the game made the scoreline more respectful.

Antony scored from distance less than 10 minutes into the second half before Anthony Martial came off to bench to score a late brace. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to deal with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden’s hat-tricks on the day.

Germany legend Schweinsteiger accepts that United were beaten in every department on the pitch, but says now is the time to improve to show everyone who the real club in Manchester is…

He tweeted: “We were totally defeated in every aspect. Now it’s time for @ManUtd to improve in so many parts to show who the real club in Manchester is soon.”

Schweinsteiger spent two years at Old Trafford after leaving Bayern Munich in 2015.
