The clock seems to be ticking for Chelsea on their quest to fire their new coach.
Although Frank Lampard has been the frontrunner for the position since the moment Maurizio Sarri left the Blues to join Juventus, they have yet to finalize that deal, leaving the club in a state of limbo.
According to reports, Chelsea have yet to approach Derby County for their manager, who went 20-15-11 (W-D-L) in his managerial debut with the Championship side.
With Derby looking to get things going for the upcoming season as they look to be promoted to the Premier League, they hope they can keep their manager in Pride Park, but it will prove to be difficult if Chelsea comes knocking.
According to reports, Lampard is currently on holiday but is expecting to be with Derby on July 1 as they get ready for the upcoming season.
What this means is that Chelsea needs to make up their mind soon about Lampard as they will need to get the deal done sometime this week.
However, it looks like Derby already are looking for Lampard’s replacement as the Championship-side is reportedly looking at candidates to fill Lampard’s shoes.
