The Hammers are beginning a new era under head coach Julen Lopetegui, who begins pre-season this week.

Steidten has confirmed West Ham will be active in the market and has crucially added how the club do not need to sell to buy.

Multiple Premier League clubs have struggled with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules over the past 12 months, but the Hammers are in a strong position - thanks in part to the £105million sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal a year ago.

“I cannot tell you about the typical positions or player names but it will be a busy summer for all of us, for sure,” said Steidten.

“The board and the owner did a good job in the last couple of years. We are able to spend money and don’t have to sell.”

West Ham have been linked with several new signings this summer, and are keen on Wolves captain Max Kilman - who worked under Lopetegui during his time at Molineux.

Lopetegui believes he has a “good platform” at West Ham, but added that he would like to add to the squad.

“We have to highlight that we are happy with the players we have,” he said. “We have a good platform.

“We are going to try to improve of course because each season is different. The demand is going to be very high.

“We know the standard of the Premier League. We have to be ready. We have to take advantage, we have to work very hard to be able to be ready in the moment to start with a high level.

“Of course we are going to need players as soon as possible but we know it’s not easy sometimes and all of us together we are going to work in the same way.”
