Tim Burton, the director of films including Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, visited the Santiago Bernabéu to bear witness to the spectacular transformation being carried out at the stadium. The California-born artist, winner of the 2007 Golden Globe for Sweeney Todd and two-time Oscar nominee for best animation, was hosted by Emilio Butragueño. Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations joined Burton on the tour and presented him with a personalised jersey printed with the number 1.
