As expected, Rangers dominated possession of the ball in the opening exchanges, with Dundee United holding on through waves of pressure.

However, as the half wore on the groans from the frustration grew around the home crowd, as Rangers failed to break their visitors down.

The deadlock was finally broke, and in style, as a superb Todd Cantwell flick found Malik Tillman inside the box, and the forward stabbed home to open the scoring in the final ten minutes of the half.

Tillman continued his solid form in the second half, doubling Rangers lead from inside the box just before the hour mark to all but put the game out of reach for United.

With their two-goal lead in the bag, the Ibrox outfit hardly had to get out to second gear as they coasted to the final whistle. The result sees Michael Beale’s men cut Celtic’s lead at the top to six points, albeit having played one more game to this point.
